Over 4.90 Lakh farmers got payments worth Rs 15871.51 Cr credited into their accounts: Kataruchak

Proving true to its promise of a hassle free procurement season, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led State Government is ensuring prompt action with regard to procuring the produce promptly and crediting the payments to the farmers in no time.

Till now, 4,90,260 (4.90 Lakh) farmers have been paid Rs. 15871.51 Crore. As regarding arrival, 8789802.82 MT Wheat has reached the mandis throughout the State out of which 8394114 MT stands procured, revealed the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak who also added that lifting too is picking up pace in the mandis.

The top District in terms of procurement is Patìala where a total of 783749.85 MT of Wheat has been procured. Sangrur district as of now comes second with Wheat procurement standing at 724988.5 and Ferozepur occupies 3rd spot with procurement figures of 595924.35.

Led by the visionary guidance of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak, the department has made adequate arrangements for procurement of 122 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Wheat and has ensured proper arrangements with regard to sanitation, clean drinking water in the mandis.
