A horrifying incident from Bakhang Wadi village in the Kandi area of Garhdiwala, Hoshiarpur, Punjab came into light on 13th July i.e. Monday that caused panic in the residents of the area. A leopard was seen attacking a dog in the residential area of the village that has left the locals terrified.

According to residents, the incident took place at around 9:30 pm on the night of July 12, Sunday. The CCTV footage shows the leopard quietly entering the village before suddenly attacking a pet dog that was eating outside a house. Within seconds, the animal grabbed the dog in its jaws and ran away. The disturbing visuals have since spread across the village, triggering fear among locals who are now worried about their safety, especially during the evening and night hours.

Village resident Avtar Singh, whose CCTV camera recorded the incident, said he first heard his pet dog barking loudly outside his house. When he stepped out to check, the dog had disappeared. Initially unsure of what had happened, he later reviewed the CCTV footage and was shocked to discover that a leopard had entered the premises and carried away the dog.
Kids and wife saved
He said that his wife and son had returned home just five minutes before the leopard appeared. If they arrived a little later, they could have come face-to-face with the wild animal, putting their lives at serious risk. The incident has heightened concerns among families living in the area, particularly those with children and elderly members.
Appeal to the authorities
The leopard's appearance in a populated locality has made residents to demand immediate action from the concerned authorities. Villagers have urged the Forest Department to launch a search operation, trap the animal, and prevent any further attacks. Many have also appealed for increased patrolling and public awareness measures to ensure the safety of people living in villages located near forested areas.
Authorities are expected to monitor the area closely until the leopard is traced and the situation is brought under control.
