In a major development, Patiala SSP Varun Sharma has been sent on leave. Sangrur SSP Sartaj Singh has been given additional charge of Patiala until further orders.

Notably, Punjab and Haryana High Court is set to hear the viral conference call/audio controversy case. The Election Commission is expected to submit a report on the alleged audio recording of the police officers to Punjab & Haryana High Court. Opposition parties Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP had filed a petition in the High Court regarding the viral video.
