In a massive development, Ludhiana West MLA and Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora on Friday announced the inauguration date of Halwara Airport terminal. Addressing the media in a press conference, Sanjeev Arora informed that the long-awaited inauguration of the Halwara Airport terminal will take place on July 27.
The Airports Authority of India has officially communicated the date, and preparations at the site are already underway. Arora informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to virtually inaugurate the new terminal.
"We had been waiting for this date, and now it has been finalized. The inauguration will be done online by the Prime Minister," said Arora.
Sanjeev Arora further informed that Air India will announce the schedule for the commencement of flight services from Halwara.
"Once the terminal is inaugurated, Air India will provide us with a date and share when the flight operations will begin. People will be informed accordingly," Arora added.
For the unversed, Airports Authority of India (AAI) inspection team visited the airport on March 27 for the first time and made several observations.
During that time, AAI has raised one issue- the replacement of the existing barbed wire fencing with a boundary wall.
