In a massive development, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday announced that women will start receiving Rs 1000 per month from the next state budget. CM Mann made the massive announcement in the poll-bound Tarn Taran during a road-show. CM Mann was campaigning for AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu.
Addressing a gathering in Tarn Taran, CM Mann said that electricity bills have been waived, and children's school fees are being saved. Youth have also been given jobs. It is our responsibility to run Punjab. We have to decide what to give to whom, and how. We have promised mothers and sisters Rs 1,000. In the next budget, we will give Rs 1,000 to women. We had promised to fulfill our promises within five years. We will deliver.
For the unversed, Rs 1000 per month to women was a major pre-poll promise by the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. The announcement was made ahead of the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls, in which AAP came to power with a big majority.
