

Punjab is witnessing major political tension after seven Rajya Sabha MPs left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following which the party has now started protests in different parts of the state against these leaders.
According to statements made by Raghav Chadha seven Rajya Sabha MPs from Punjab have quit AAP and among them are Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, industrialist Rajinder Gupta and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh.
AAP workers staged a protest outside Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar raising slogans against Dr. Ashok Mittal and at the same time protests were also held outside the residence of Harbhajan Singh where the word “gaddar” was written on the walls and gates of his house. Meanwhile in Kichlu Nagar, Ludhiana AAP’s youth wing planned a protest against Rajinder Gupta outside his Trident Group office.
AAP leaders have accused the MPs of betraying Punjab and its people and the party leadership including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has strongly criticised the leaders who left the party.
Amidst this Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has sought an appointment with President Droupadi Murmu and according to sources from the Chief Minister’s Office Mann plans to travel to Delhi along with Punjab MLAs and during the meeting he is expected to raise the issue of MPs leaving the party and will demand the “Right to Recall” for those who switched sides.
