Punjab E-Bus project is among the most-awaited project of the state. Earlier it was reported that E-Buses are all set to be rolled out in five cities of Punjab- Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Mohali.
In Jalandhar, the E-Bus service was supposed to be rolled out till the month of December this year. Prabhnoor Singh, Consultant with the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme had informed True Scoop that E-Buses depots are expected to be completed by December. More than 100 E-Buses were suppose to arrive in till the month of October-November 2025.
And, the services were expected to start after December 2025. However, the formal announcement was not made.
Now, it seems like Punjab E-Bus project has been delayed by at least 6 to 7 months. Prabhnoor Singh, Consultant with the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, confirmed this to True Scoop that as of now the project is delayed.
He further informed that the proposal of Mohali E-bus services are in initial stages. On the other hand, E-Bus project in remaining cities will be delayed.
Now, the E-Bus services are expected to start in Jalandhar and other cities most probably after April 2026.
The project is delayed largely due to pending tender clearance from the Central Government, which is essential for proceeding with final vendor selection and bus deployment.
