The Punjab and Haryana High Court has told the Punjab government to clear all pending Dearness Allowance (DA) dues of employees and pensioners by June 30, 2026 and also said that DA should be the same for all employees and right now senior officers are getting 58% DA while other employees are getting only 42%.

The court said this difference is unfair especially because lower-paid employees are also affected by rising prices in the same way whereas the government had asked for more time saying it has financial problems so keeping this in mind the court still gave a final deadline to clear all dues and make DA equal for everyone. The next hearing in this case will be held in July 2026 and during the hearing those who filed the case also mentioned a 2014 order which said that DA should always be given equally to all employees at the same time.
