Punjab government's anti-corruption action line leads to 368 arrests

The Government of Punjab has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against corruption, marking significant milestones through its flagship Chief Minister Anti-Corruption Action Line. Eradicating corruption in all its forms to eliminate its corrosive impact on the governance system remains the topmost priority of the state government.

Anti-Corruption Action Line number 9501 200 200 was launched on 23 March 2022, this initiative encourages citizens to come forward and fearlessly report corruption in public offices across Punjab.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of Punjab Vigilance Bureau said that a total of 16,950 complaints with audio-video recordings were received on CM's Anti Corruption Action Line from 23-03-2022 to 31-05-2026. Out of this, 10,951 complaints were related to other departments, so these complaints were forwarded to concerned departments for taking appropriate actions.

Moreover, he added that 1445 complaints were related to the VB and forwarded to concerned district VB SSPs for taking necessary action. After verification of these complaints by the VB, 368 accused have been arrested in 284 FIRs registered so far on these complaints.

The Vigilance Bureau urges the public to continue utilizing this platform to make a completely transparent and graft-free state

This initiative is a user friendly Artificial Intelligence based WhatsApp platform for the public to file complaints of illegal gratification. Citizens can file complaints 24x7 along with relevant audio and video recording regarding demand of illegal gratification. This will lead to quick and timely redressal of people’s grievances and prevent harassment of the general public.
