Punjab on 3-days heavy rainfall alert, but light showers to start from October 2
The city of Jalandhar on October 2 morning witnessed morning rainfall. Although the morning rainfall turned the weather pleasant, it somewhat played a spoilsport in Dussehra celebrations. In the meantime, Punjab's weather is all set to change. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit on Wednesday put Punjab on at least 3 days of heavy to very heavy rainfall alert.
Punjab Rainfall Prediction in October 2025
IMD Chandigarh on Wednesday evening issued a press release in which it warned that from October 1 to October 4, Punjab will be witnessing light rainfall.
However, from October 5 to October, Punjab may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Light rainfall is likely at isolated places over Punjab and Haryana during 1st to 4th October.
Thereafter under the influence of an active Western Disturbance Rainfall /Thunderstorm activity is likely to increase during 5th to 7th October 2025.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on 05th and 07th October 2025, and at most places on 06th October 2025.
Said spell is likely to be accompanied with Thunderstorm/Lighting and Gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over both stated including Chandigarh.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on 06th October 2025.

What is the reason behind Punjab Rainfall in October 2025?
IMD Chandigarh explained, "An Western Disturbance is likely to become active over Northwest India from October 4, 2025. It is expected to affect the Western Himalayan region and the adjoining plains of Northwest India during 5th to 7th Oct 2025."
