

Punjab is facing very hot weather right now and the state has remained dry during the last 24 hours and according to the latest weather update Bathinda was the hottest place in Punjab with a maximum temperature of 44.7°C while on the other hand Amritsar recorded lowest minimum temperature at 22.1 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has warned that several districts may continue to face intense heat on May 28 and these districts include Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Tarn Taran, Barnala and Sangrur.
However people may soon get relief from the heat as rain and thunderstorms are expected to start in many parts of Punjab from May 28 onwards and according to the forecast some areas may receive light rainfall on May 28 and May 31 while rain activity may increase on May 29 and May 30 in several districts.
The weather department has also warned about strong winds, thunderstorms, lightning and possible hailstorms in some parts of the state.
On May 28 thunderstorms with lightning, hail and strong winds are likely in many districts. Wind speed may reach 60 to 70 kmph in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Mohali and similar weather conditions are also expected in Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Tarn Taran, Barnala and Sangrur.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected at some places in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Mohali on May 28 and some isolated rainfall may also occur in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Barnala and Sangrur.
The weather may become more active on May 29 with thunderstorms, lightning, hail and strong winds of 60 to 70 kmph are likely in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Mohali.
Rainfall activity is also expected to increase on May 29 and light to moderate rain may occur at many places in districts such as Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Patiala and Mohali while some areas in Malwa region may also receive scattered rainfall.
On May 30 thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely at some places across Punjab and along with this light to moderate rainfall is expected in many parts of the state.
The expected rain and cloudy weather may finally bring relief to people who have been struggling with the extreme heat over the past few days.
