Punjab Government has announced that the working hours of all government offices and institutions in the state will return to normal schedule from July 1, 2026 and the decision has been issued by Personnel Department through an official order and according to an official order issued by Personnel Department all government offices and institutions in Punjab will now function from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm from Wednesday July 1, 2026.
Earlier Punjab Government had changed office timings from May 25, 2026 due to rising summer heat and the temporary change was introduced for government offices and educational institutions located in Punjab and Chandigarh and was to remain in force until further orders.
The latest order states that temporary summer timings will now end and the previous office schedule of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will be restored from July 1 and Personnel Department has directed all government departments, heads of departments, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure that these instructions are followed strictly.
A copy of the order has also been sent to the Director of the Information and Public Relations Department Punjab with a request to issue a press note regarding the change and with this decision all government offices and institutions in Punjab will resume their regular working hours from the beginning of July.
