

Travelling on national highways in Punjab has become costlier after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) revised toll charges at eight toll plazas across the state. The new rates are now in effect and will impact both private vehicle owners and commercial transport operators.
The revised toll rates have been implemented at Kaliasar, Lachowal, Kot Karor, Chulang, Kala Tibba, Khudda Jassar, Rakhra and Mandi Toll Plaza. Meanwhile, Ladowal Toll Plaza near Ludhiana has also witnessed another toll hike, the second increase in the last four months.

The monthly pass for regular commuters at Ladowal Toll Plaza has also increased to ₹7,815, making daily travel more expensive for frequent users.
The toll hike is expected to increase transportation and logistics costs, which may eventually affect the prices of essential commodities. Daily commuters, transporters and commercial vehicle operators are likely to face the biggest impact of the revised toll charges.
