Punjab Winter: Sharp dip in temperature makes THIS Punjab district coldest at 7.6°C

With the completion of festive season i.e. Diwali and Gurpurab, winters in Punjab has started to intensify. A brief spell of rainfall along with lightening on November 4 has made the weather chilly in the state. While the weather department has predicted that Punjab may witness December-like weather in November, temperature has started to dip sharply in various districts of the state.

Punjab Winter Update

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit, Faridkot recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 7.6°C.

IMD Chandigarh released its daily temperature readings in which it also pointed out that as compared to yesterday i.e. November 5, there is a fall of -4°C in the average minimum temperature temperature. However, it is normal in the state.

Snowfall in high altitude areas

As per reports, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have received fresh snowfall in the region. While heavy snow in Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Gurez, and Furkin Top in Kupwara sent tourists into raptures, similar conditions have persisted in Kargil and Leh regions of Kashmir, which also include Khardung La and Shinkula.

In Himachal Pradesh, hills of Rohtang Pass, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kinnaur are wrapped under a thick blanket of snow. Temperature plummeted to below the freezing point at places like Tabo at -2.2° C and Keylong at -0.4° C. Shrines in Uttarakhand, Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Hemkund Sahib, too are under snow, further intensifying the cold wave.
