Over the next six days, residents of Punjab should prepare for significantly cooler nights even as the days remain relatively mild. While daytime temperatures continue in the mid-20s °C, the nights will dip sharply, with lows in many districts reaching single digits or near-double digits.
According to the latest forecast:
Friday (7 Nov): Daytime high around 28 °C, night low about 11–12 °C.
Saturday (8 Nov): Day high again ~28 °C, night low dropping to ~10 °C.
Sunday (9 Nov): Day high ~28 °C, night low ~10 °C.
Monday (10 Nov): Day high ~28 °C, night low ~11 °C.
Tuesday (11 Nov): Day high ~27 °C, night low potentially as low as ~9 °C.
Wednesday (12 Nov): Day high ~26 °C, with night low recovering slightly to ~13 °C.
District-wise snapshot
For major cities such as Amritsar, forecasts suggest nights around 11 °C, with days near 26 °C.
In the Patiala district, similar minimums of ~11 °C have been noted for coming nights, with highs in the high 20s °C.
Several meteorological conditions are driving the sharper drop at night:
Clear skies & low cloud cover: With fewer clouds holding heat in, surface cooling after sunset is intensified, causing quicker temperature drops.
Dry, calm air: Lower humidity and lighter winds overnight reduce the mixing of warmer air and allow the ground to lose heat more rapidly.
Large day-night swing (diurnal range): Warm afternoons (~26-28 °C) followed by nights dipping to ~9-12 °C create a big temperature contrast, making the night chill more obvious.
Shorter day-length & lower sun angle: At this time of year, the sun’s energy is weaker and days are shorter, meaning less accumulated warmth and thus cooler base temperatures overnight.
Wear warm layers or a jacket in the late evening and early morning hours, when temperatures are lowest.
At home, make sure bedtime bedding or sleeping arrangements are sufficient for ~9-13 °C conditions.
Outdoor activities during the daytime remain comfortable; however once the sun sets, the chill sets in quickly — plan accordingly.
Vulnerable groups (elderly, children, those with health issues) should be especially mindful of the colder night hours.
In the week ahead across Punjab, major centres such as Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Mohali and Patiala will experience warm afternoons paired with significantly cooler nights: for example Ludhiana is forecast to reach highs around 27 °C and lows near 12–9 °C over the coming days. In Jalandhar, highs of about 27–25 °C and night lows dropping to 12–9 °C are expected. Amritsar will see similar patterns—daytime highs of 27–26 °C, night lows of around 12–10 °C.
Mohali (SAS Nagar) is also scheduled for highs near 26–27 °C and overnight lows of about 12–10 °C. And in Patiala, though specific figures are less detailed in our sources, the pattern holds for the region: mild days in the high 20s °C with dropping night-time minima of about 10–12 °C.
These large day-to-night temperature swings across the region underline a week of comfortable daylight hours but crisp, cold early mornings and evenings.
