The Government of India and the CBFC are in no mood to cut any slack for Indian Punjab movies that are featuring Pakistani actors. Chal Mera Putt 4 has become the latest causality of India-Pakistan tensions.
Chal Mera Putt 4 that features Amrinder Gill and Simi Chahal have not been granted certificate by the CBFC to release in India. As a result, the makers opted for Sardaar Ji 3-like solution.
In short, the makers of Chal Mera Putt has decided to release the movie abroad but not in India.
The release date of the film was fixed on August 1, but till the last moment it could not get permission in India.
The film's team posted on social media and wrote, "It is being released worldwide, but not in India. We did everything we could...But some things are simply out of our hands. Thank you for standing by us. Your love means the world."
The first part of 'Chal Mera Putt' has been praised for its emotional and humorous presentation of migrant life. Pakistani comedians like Iftikhar Thakur, Akram Uddas and Nasir Chinyoti have acted in it.
Iftikhar Thakur had made anti-India statements on the Pahalgam attack and the dispute that arose between India and Pakistan after that.
During the Indo-Pak tension in May 2025, Iftikhar Thakur had said, "If you come by air, bombs will fall, if you come by sea, you will be drowned, and if you come by land, you will be buried." This statement hurt the national sentiment.
After this, Iftikhar Thakur made controversial statements about Punjabi films. In a statement, Iftikhar Thakur said, "I had signed about 16 films in Punjab, India. We were told that we will boycott you. To this I replied that you do not have the courage to boycott, we boycott."
"9 films were made without Pakistani artists, but none of them worked. Pakistani artists do many important works including dialogues in the films made in Punjab. All the films done by Pakistani artists have been a hit every time. Punjabi industry has invested 300 to 350 crore rupees on our artists."
