A 19-year-old BBA student, identified as Shabnur has committed suicide by jumping from the building of CT University building located in the village Chaukiman near Jagraon. Talking about the incident, the University Director Davinder Singh tells that as of now only the identity of the girl is revealed and the motive behind the alleged suicide remains unclear. The University Director shares that as soon as the administration learned about the incident, police authorities were informed and the student was shifted to Civil Hospital in an ambulance where she was accompanied by some staff members. He tells that as of now the police are conducting an investigation in the matter. Davinder Singh also shared that the girl was accompanied by other fellow students as well, who also do not have information regarding the incident and claim that everything happened all of sudden. He further confirms that the girl belongs to Ludhiana and as of now it has not been established if she was depressed or not.
DSP Jaswinder Singh Dhindsa along with police team reached the scene and took charge of the investigation. The DSP informs that currently the investigation is in the preliminary stage, but by the circumstantial evidence available at the scene it appears to be a case of suicide. As of now, the reason behind the suicide remains unknown and would only be established once a thorough investigation has taken place.
The family of the deceased was also informed and they reached the Civil Hospital. The family has not given any statement yet.
