
Jalandhar Court on Monday granted bail to Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao in a case that was registered against him and a few others for hurting religious sentiments.
A complaint was filed against Rajkummar Rao and the makers of Bollywood movie Behen Hogi Teri that was released in 2017 at Police Station Division Number 5, Jalandhar.
A local Shiv Sena leader had filed a complaint against the actor and makers of the movie for showing Lord Shiva inappropriately in the film. The film had showcased Rao dressed as Lord Shiva gets struck by a car. He was then caught Police. Rao in Lord Shiva attire even offer to bribe the Police officer.
Rajkummar Rao's case was going on in the court of Judge Srijan Shukla. During this, Rao himself reached the court at 4 pm and surrendered. After which Judge Shukla granted him bail. The next hearing of this case has been scheduled for July 30.
A page of the chargesheet reads, "on 21.06.2017, case diary orders were received from ACJM/MM, Jalandhar for further investigation, according to which SHO P S Div No. 5 Jalandhar recorded statements of all the accused and bail orders dated 20.06.2017 were received, in which bail granted to Raj Kumar Rao by Court."
"On the basis of investigation done, proceedings under section 295A IPC and 67 IT Act 2000 may be initiated, and final report prepared accordingly."
