A late-night firing incident took place at a farmer’s house in the Lakkhan Kalan village, Kapurthala. As per reports, unknown miscreants targeted the house of Daljit Singh, nephew of Akali Dal (Mann) leader Kashmir Singh and fired 13 rounds. After the incident the accused fled from the spot.
As soon as the police received the information about the crime, they immediately reached the spot and stared a probe. During the inspection at the crime scene, the police team recovered 13 empty shells from the spot. DSP Subdivision Sheetal Singh, while talking about the incident says that among the recovered shells, some include .30 bore and while some were of .32 bore.
DSP Sheetal Singh further adds that during the ongoing investigation it was found that a few bullets had hit the gate and wall of the house built at a dera outside the village, that belongs to Daljit Singh, son of Gurmukh Singh. Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported in the incident.
As per reports, the house where the firing took place is located on the outer side of the village, that is opposite to the cooperative society office. Amid absence of CCTV camera around the incident site, the police are currently facing major difficulties in the investigation.
Meanwhile, the former district president of Akali Dal (Mann), Jathedar Kashmir Singh, said that the firing incident at his nephew Daljit Singh’s house at occurred late at night was a result of election-related rivalry.
At present, a through probe is underway and statements are being recorded of the victim. The matter is currently being looked at from all angles and a hunt operation for the attackers is ongoing.
