Jalandhar has stepped into 2026 with a development clock. Apparently, there are various progress plans in the pipeline for the district. Jalandhar’s Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal in an exclusive talk with True Scoop gave some insight to the residents providing a clear sense of when long-pending works will finally move from promises to ground reality.
Answering the much-anticipated question of Jalandhar residents, the DC shares that the Delhi-Katra highway and Ring Road are big projects that have been taken up by the NHI. He adds that as per his knowledge, the Ring Road would be completed with the next 12 to 15 months while the Delhi-Katra highway would take up another 6 months after Ring Road’s completion. He anticipates that the surface-level water project could be winded up in the coming 10 to 12 months positively.
Talking about the development of Hoshiarpur road Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal shares that it has been a long pending project, but it would most probably be complete before the monsoon this year. He also shares that the Adampur flyover also had been lying dormant for a while now, but after persistent efforts the project has restarted and might be finished within a month or two.
The also DC emphasizes that he is working towards improving the connectivity of Jalandhar with other districts of Punjab as well as with other states of the country. He mentions how the administration is continuously pushing to increase flights from Adampur airport, he adds that they have already secured a direct flight from Adampur to Mumbai last year.
Talking about the road connectivity and infrastructure, the DC shares that the administration is buckled up and trying to get projects like Ring Road, Delhi-Katra Highway and Hoshiarpur Road finished as soon as possible. He shares how last year due to heavy rains and flooding in the state the road development projects were stalled, however the administration is now trying to get the work done in due course of time.
DC mentions that the administration is very particular about looking after the cleanliness and façade and mentions that continuous efforts are underway to make it cleaner. He affirms that right from the month of March, when the bitumen plants are started roads would be on the priority list and it is anticipated that before the onset of monsoon this would check off.
