The Jalandhar Municipal Corporation (MC) took a decisive action and launched a bulldozer drive in Jalandhar’s Latifpura. The Latifpura controversy started brewing back in late 2022 when the Jalandhar Improvement Trust knocked down on a cluster of unauthorized homes in Latifpura. The occupants had established new illegal encroachments ultimately slowing the foot travel and vehicles through the neighborhood.
The local residents had been facing inconvenience and were waiting for an administrative remedy to curb out the illegal settlements. This operation done by the Jalandhar MC was aimed at removing those encroachments obstructing roads and open the area and finally provided the much-awaited relief to the residents.
Chairman of the Improvement Trust Jalandhar, Ramneek Singh Randhawa talking exclusively to True Scoop shared some insights about the plans for Latifpura moving forward. Ramneek Singh explains that the Municipal Corporation (MC) under the court orders knocked down on illegal buildings that were blocking the roads in the area. Things were handled smoothly, and efforts were made to move forward without any conflict.
Discussing long-term plans for Latifpura, Ramneek Singh explains that the first and most important step of clearing the land has been done and now a committee will collectively decide and prepare a blueprint for the development of the area. He mentions that under the guidance of Mann-government and pro-active local leadership soon a decision would be taken and path would be paved for an overall development of the area.
Chairman of the Improvement Trust Jalandhar, Ramneek Singh Randhawa affirmed that the efforts to rehabilitee the affected families of Latifpura are being looked after with utmost importance. These families were assured the allotment of 49 flats and 15 plots to the affected families at Bibi Bhani Complex and Surya Enclave.
Ramneek Singh shares that to ease the transition and the rehabilitation process for the affected families, a decision was taken that the 5 percent amount usually required to be deposited for allotment of flats and plots was not charged from these families.
He explains that it is expected that no such situation arises in the future, but if need be, an appropriate legal action would follow its course.
