A case of theft has occurred at the upscale Iconic Mall in Model Town, Jalandhar. Thieves broke into a clothing showroom late at night, broke open a locker, and escaped with cash amounting to Rs 11.5 lakh.
The shocking part is that security guards are usually deployed at the mall, but they did not notice the theft taking place. The showroom owner informed the police about the incident, following which a team reached the spot immediately. Forensic experts and police are investigating the matter thoroughly.
The police have seized CCTV footage from the mall and are examining it closely. The showroom manager said that two thieves were involved in the robbery.
Speaking about the incident, the Station House Officer (SHO) confirmed that the two thieves broke open the safe in the clothing showroom and fled with ₹11.5 lakh. The manager reportedly received the information about the theft only the next morning.
The SHO also stated that suspicion is being raised against the security guard on duty. Since the incident, the security guard has been missing. According to sources, one person has been arrested, but the police have not yet confirmed the information officially.
