The new Tata Steel manufacturing plant in Ludhiana is set to commence operations in March, marking a significant step forward for industrial growth in Ludhiana as well as Punjab. The facility is expected to strengthen the region’s manufacturing sector, generate employment opportunities, and support the state’s expanding industrial infrastructure. Talking about it, the Chief Minister of Punjab said that the project is a testament of increasing confidence of industry in the policies and governance of the state government.

2,500 youths to get employment

The plant, which is located close to HiTech Valley, will include a rebar mill and a 0.75 MTPA Electric Arc Furnace-based steelmaking facility. The project covers 115 acres. According to him, the initial Rs 2,600 crore investment has grown to Rs 3,200 crore. It is anticipated that the plant will employ about 2,500 workers.

Eco-friendly production

According to the Chief Minister, the plant will employ an eco-friendly production method and use 100% steel scrap as raw material. He noted that when compared to conventional techniques, the Electric Arc Furnace technology lowers carbon emissions.
