Schools of Punjab including Jalandhar are witnessing a long weekend. Courtesy of Independence Day 2025, Janmashtami, and Sunday, schools of Punjab are already witnessing holidays starting from August 15 to August 17.
Now, August 18 has also been announced as a school holiday in Jalandhar.
As per Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jalandhar, Himanshu Aggarwal, all government, government-aided and private schools in Jalandhar will remain closed on August 18. However, only those schools will remain closed in Jalandhar that participated in Independence Day 2025 parade and event.
Similar announcement has been made for Chandigarh schools as well. An announcement to this effect was made by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria during an Independence Day event organised at the Parade Ground on Friday.
