A list of holidays have been released by the Reserve Bank of India (RB) for the month of August 2025 and it has been confirmed that a total of 15 Bank holidays will be marked during this month, including Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.
It is to be noted that these holidays are national, weekend offs, and regional holidays which are expected to be celebrated in certain Indian states. With the announcement of the list, the bank has asked the general public to plan their important (bank related ) tasks, such as cheque deposits, fund transfers or loan-related work, priorly to avoid any form of disruption.

The banks across Sikkim will remain closed due to the celebrations of Tendong Lho Rum Faat, a native festival.

The banks will remain closed across every state of the country. It is to be noted that on this day, India will also celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan - the festival will be giving two reasons to mark a holiday.

On the occasion of Patriot’s Day, Manipur will observe closure of the banks.

The nation will celebrate the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, which means banks across India will remain closed.

The banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Srinagar and Andhra Pradesh for Janmashtami/Krishna Jayanthi.

One of the major festival holidays will be Ganesh Chaturthi, which falls on August 27 and 28, affecting banking operations in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. The festival of Nuakhai will also lead to bank closures in parts of Odisha and adjoining states on August 28.
