

A minor girl has died at the Gandhi Vanita Ashram Children's Home located in Jalandhar. As per reports, this is the second minor girl that has passed away in the ashram in the past two months. Earlier, on November 21, 2025, a 17-year-old girl was found dead who was allegedly found unconscious in the ashram’s bathroom. Later, the post-mortem examination had revealed a total of twenty-one injures on the deceased girls’ body.
Today, yet another minor girl from the ashram has lost her life, who has reportedly been living at the children’s home in the ashram for the past one year. The girl had been brought to the ashram in the month of January last year (2025). As per reports, the girl developed respiratory problems and was taken to Civil Hospital, where she died during the treatment.
The administration members have stated that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Sharing details about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that, the girl passed away on February 16 before 9:00 AM. He informs that the deceased 17-year-old girl had already been battling with pre-existing health problems, and today she experienced difficulty in breathing, following which she was taken to Jalandhar Civil Hospital. The DC confirmed that the girl died during the treatment at the hospital.
It was also established that no suspicious foul play in the minor’s death has been suspected. Further details will be revealed after a post-mortem report gets back. Talking about the registration of a FIR in the previous case, the DC says that the viscera report of the previous case has not arrived yet, and only after that investigation will be complete, he assured that an FIR would be registered soon.
