Shooter involved in Rana Balachauria's murder shot dead after Police encounter

In a major breakthrough, Mohali Police on Wednesday arrested one of the shooters involved in the murder of Rana Balachauria. Rana Balachauria, a Kabadddi Promoter & Player, was shot dead by three unidentified men on Monday night in Mohali. The unidentified men shot Rana Balachauria in head on pretext of taking a selfie.

Punjab Police took to its official X handle and gave update in Rana Balachauria's murder case. Punjab Police revealed that shooter Harpinder is a resident of Tarn Taran and he was arrested after an encounter broke out between him and the Police. During encounter Harpinder alias Middu sustained bullet injuries and hence was admitted to hospital.

Punjab Police wrote, "In a major breakthrough, @sasnagarpolice apprehends Harpinder @ Middu, a resident of Naushehra Pannuan, Tarn Taran, in connection with the recent murder of Kanwar Digvijay Singh @ Rana Balachauria in Mohali. The accused was apprehended following an exchange of fire with the police team."

"During the operation, the accused sustained injuries and has been shifted to a hospital. Two police personnel were also injured during the chase and are receiving medical treatment."

"Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused is involved in multiple heinous crimes and has a serious criminal background."

UPDATE- SSP Mohali informed the media- Harpinder Singh, a resident of Naushehra Pannuan, Tarn Taran, has been killed in a police encounter in Rana Balachauria's murder case.

It is pertinent to mention here that SSP Mohali Harmandeep Hans on Tuesday in a press conference had revealed details of two shooters and kept the identity of third shooter under wraps.

"Doni Bal, Lucky Patiaal have taken responsibility of the murder. Their shooters carry out the crime. Two shooters have been identified- Aditya Kapoor alias Makhan from Amritsar, and Karan Pathak from Amritsar. The identity of third person will not be revealed for now due to operational reason." said SSP Mohali on Tuesday.

It means, police are still on a hunt for the remaining two shooters.
