The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a massive state-level anti-drug rally in Moga today (Monday). Talking during the event, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann asserts that his target on BJP, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is clear. He claims that once Punjab used be famous for its athletes, but unfortunately, today these parties have pushed Punjab into the gorge of drugs.
During the rally that was focused on a large-scale anti-drug drive the CM highlighted that this initiative by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is the states’ first such fight against drugs. He slammed the previous governments for their failure to curb drug menace in the state and asserted that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is committed and a strict action against drug traffickers is underway.
Drug Trafficking Using Government Vehicles: Mann alleged that before 2022, government officials under previous regimes allowed drug trafficking using government vehicles. Police were reportedly informed in advance not to seize these vehicles. “They injected drugs into the veins of Punjab’s youth,” he said.
Research-Based Anti-Drug Action: The Chief Minister stated that his government conducted thorough research before planning anti-drug initiatives. First, de-addiction centers were set up, then major traffickers were arrested, and finally bulldozers were used against their illegal properties.
Political Warning to Opposition: Mann addressed opposition parties, saying, “Whenever I visit a hospital, they claim I went unnecessarily. I will sit at the roots of BJP, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal,” signalling his strong stance against political rivals.
Accusation Against Bikram Singh Majithia: Without naming him directly, Mann accused senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia of creating a “vaccine-ruined Punjab” and called him a “killer of the people.” He added that while courts may grant bail, justice from the higher powers would not be avoided, and punishment will follow.
No Commission Policy: Mann emphasized that the Aam Aadmi Party government does not take a share in any work. He criticized previous governments for taking a share in all activities, adding that even small vendors, like samosa sellers, were not spared.
The rally reinforced the government’s message of strict action against drugs and highlighted CM Mann’s commitment to ensuring the youth of Punjab remain free from substance abuse.
