A theft has been reported at the Sarvodaya Gas Agency office in GTB Nagar which is a posh area of the city and an unknown person broke into the office at night and escaped with ₹50,000 in cash and a mobile phone. The incident came to light in the morning when the agency’s manager Vicky reached the office around 8:30 AM and saw that the locks were broken following which informed the owner and later filed a complaint with the police.
According to CCTV footage the theft took place between 3:00 AM and 3:15 AM when the thief came on an Activa scooter and parked it at some distance and later then walked to the office climbed over the back wall and entered from the rear side after which the thief searched the office and took cash and a phone from the safe before running away.
The manager said that the area is usually busy in the early morning because people visit a nearby Gurdwara Sahib for prayers but still the thief managed to carry out the theft without being noticed. As of now the police have started an investigation and taken the CCTV footage and they are trying to identify and catch the accused.
