A snatching incident took place in broad daylight in Guru Gobind Singh Avenue near Surya Enclave in Jalandhar where a biker robbed a woman of her purse right outside her house.
According to information the victim Chenali had come from Mandi Gobindgarh to visit her family and as she was stepping into a car parked outside the house a man on a motorcycle came from behind and suddenly snatched her purse. The purse reportedly contained a large amount of cash, gold jewelry, house keys and important documents.
Family members immediately raised an alarm and tried to catch the robber and even chased him but he managed to escape quickly due to the high speed of his motorcycle. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed outside the house which would help police identify the accused.
Vikrant Gupta a resident of the area and the victim’s brother said the family has filed a complaint at Ramamandi Police Station after which police reached the spot and started investigating the case.
After the incident many local residents gathered at the spot and expressed concern over rising theft cases and requested the police to increase patrolling in the area to prevent such incidents and create fear among criminals.
Police officials said efforts are being made to trace the accused using CCTV footage and further investigation is underway.
