Thunderstorm-lightning to return to Punjab on Jan 27, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and others to be hit

IMD Chandigarh has issued a fresh prediction in which it put multiple districts of Punjab on yellow alert for thunderstorm, and lightning on January 27.

It seems like thunderstorm and lightning are all set to return to Punjab. Most of the districts of Punjab were hit by thunderstorm on January 23 including, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, etc.

Now, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit on January 25 has issued a fresh prediction in which it put multiple districts of Punjab on yellow alert for thunderstorm, and lightning on January 27. Not only this, but the weather department has also predicted that a strong will blow across the impacted districts.

January 27- ( on yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning and strong wind)- Pathankot, Gursdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, and Rupnagar.

Notably, apart from Punjab, the weather of Himachal Pradesh has also changed. On January 23, the dry spell in Himachal Pradesh finally broke. Intermittent rain and snowfall were recorded in Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, and Manali. The mid-mountainous regions of Mandi, Solan, Bilaspur, and Chamba also witnessed thunderstorms and rain.

The change of weather in Punjab, and nearby states is said to be because of active western disturbances.
