Woman Lawyer Stopped During Vehicle Checking

A heated argument reportedly broke out between traffic police and a woman lawyer at Kapurthala Chowk in Jalandhar over the issuance of a vehicle challan. According to the information available, the woman was stopped by traffic police during a routine vehicle-checking drive, following which officers asked her to produce the vehicle’s documents.

Lawyer Alleges Bribe Demand

The situation reportedly escalated when an argument began between the woman lawyer and the police personnel present at the spot. The lawyer alleged that SHO Sukhwinder initially demanded ₹2,000 from her and that the alleged demand was later increased to ₹5,000 after she objected.

She further claimed that she had been stopped for several hours and was on her way to take her sick child to hospital. The woman said she was travelling from Amritsar when she was stopped by the traffic police.

Police Deny Allegations

The police, however, rejected the allegations and presented a different version of events. According to the police, the vehicle was stopped for checking and the occupants were asked to produce the necessary documents.

Police officials alleged that the woman did not show the vehicle papers and remained seated inside the car. They also claimed that the vehicle’s original number plate had been concealed.

‘No Money Was Demanded’

The police officer concerned categorically denied demanding any money from the woman lawyer, calling the allegations false. The officer maintained that the vehicle was stopped as part of checking procedures and that no bribe was sought from the other party.

Further Action Underway

The incident has raised questions over the circumstances surrounding the vehicle check and the subsequent confrontation. With both sides making opposing allegations, further action and verification of the claims are awaited.
