Two dead, two undergoing treatment after Patiala family allegedly consumes poison

A tragic incident has shocked Patiala after four members of a family allegedly consumed a poisonous substance at their residence in Officers Colony. Two of them, identified as Vikas Bathish and his daughter Khwahish Bathish, lost their lives, while the mother and son are undergoing treatment at Rajindra Hospital. The police were informed about the case at late hours of Wednesday night by the hospital authorities. Police have launched an investigation into the case and are examining all possible angles.

Identification of the victims

The family included 4 members. Vikas Bathish was 45 years old while his wife Tamanna Bathish was 40. Both the children, daughter Khwahish and son Kanav were minors aged 14 and 10 respectively. According to police, the incident came to light after the family was rushed to Rajindra Hospital. Doctors declared Vikas Bathish dead on arrival, while his daughter Khwahish succumbed to her condition during treatment despite medical efforts on Thursday morning

Treatment of the two

Patiala City DSP Sanjeev Singla said that Vikas Bathish's wife, Tamanna Bathish, and the couple's son Kanav are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. He added that Tamanna's statement is being recorded under the supervision of a duty magistrate, after which further legal action will be initiated based on her testimony.

Further actions

Officials are collecting evidence and speaking to family members and other persons connected to the case to ascertain the circumstances leading up to the incident. Police have not ruled out any possibility and said the investigation remains at an early stage.
