Attack carried out near police station
Questions have once again been raised over the functioning of Veroval police after an alleged group of assailants attacked a medical store owner and vandalised his shop in Veroval market.
According to the information available, the incident took place near the Veroval police station, where the attackers allegedly assaulted the medical store owner and created a disturbance in the area.
Medical store owner assaulted, shop ransacked
The victim, identified as medical store owner Lovepreet Singh, said that he had come to the medical store to provide medicines to Chandbir Singh for his mother.
Lovepreet alleged that Chandbir Singh had an ongoing dispute with a neighbour, following which the attackers targeted them. The assailants allegedly entered the medical store, assaulted the victim and vandalised the shop, leaving items scattered inside.
Gunshots allegedly fired outside police station
The victims further alleged that the attackers also fired shots with weapons right outside Veroval police station.
The incident has raised concern among local shopkeepers, particularly because the alleged violence and firing took place in the immediate vicinity of the police station.
Chandbir Singh’s mother, Ranjit Kaur, has demanded strict action against those allegedly involved in the attack on her son.
SHO says he was unaware of incident
When contacted regarding the incident, Veroval SHO Baljinder Singh Bajwa reportedly expressed unawareness about the matter.
His response has further fuelled resentment among shopkeepers in the market, who questioned how such an incident could allegedly take place outside the police station without the local police being aware of it.
Shopkeepers demand action and security
The victim has appealed to the police administration for justice and demanded strict action against the accused.
Meanwhile, local shopkeepers have condemned the incident and urged the police administration to ensure better security in the market and take action against those responsible.
The allegations and circumstances surrounding the incident are expected to be investigated by the police.
