The previous notice to Sukhpal KhairaA major development has been reported in the case linked to Punjab Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira. According to the recent update, CM Mann’s OSD Rajbir Singh has filed a defamation case against Congress MLA in the court and has alleged that Khaira has made false and baseless allegations against him.
Regarding the same, a notice has been issued to Khaira and the case in the matter will be heard on August 11, 2025 (Monday).
Around five days ago, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD Rajbir Singh sent a legal notice of defamation against Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, in which he demanded a public and written apology within the next 72 hours.
As per the complaint registered by Rajbir Singh, Khaira made false, baseless and fabricated allegations against him, which has directly or indirectly tarnished his image. At that time, he asked him to share an apology by Monday otherwise he might take legal action.
It is to be noted that this matter has gained public attention during the times when Khaira has been targeting the AAP government and Chief Minister Bahgwant Mann’s administration in Punjab.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira is known to be one of the senior leaders of Punjab Congress and gained a Congress ticket from Bhulath constituency and was elected as an MLA. He also contested the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur in 2024 but lost the seat.
However, it is worth mentioning that earlier back in 2017 he contested elections under Aam Aadmi Party during 2017 and was also elected as the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. Before contesting for the elections, in 2015 he was arrested by the Punjab Police in a drug case and during the same time the ED also registered a case of disproportionate assets against him.
