Puran Kumar’s s*icide. On Tuesday morning, Om Parkash Singh was given additional charge of the Director General of Police.
The government had sent State DGP Kapur on leave amid the demand of Kumar's family for action against him and other officers for harassing him (Puran Kumar).
Now, the question arises who is Haryana's acting DGP Om Parkash Singh and what is his connection with Sushant Singh Rajput?
A 1992-batch IPS officer, Om Parkash Singh, is presently posted as the Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Panchkula, DGP Haryana Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) and Director of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Madhuban.
The Governor of Haryana on Tuesday announced its decision to assign the additional charge of DGP, Haryana, to Om Prakash Singh, IPS (1992 RR), during the leave period of Shatrujeet Singh Kapur, stated an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Mishra Singh.
Haryana's Acting DGP Om Prakash Singh is the brother-in-law of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Singh is originally from Madhubani, Bihar. He is due to retire on December 31, 2025.
Om Prakash Singh currently serves as the Managing Director of the Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Panchkula, Director of FSL Madhuban, and Director General of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau. He is known for his professional skills, discipline, and administrative efficiency.
As per reports, Om Prakash Singh stayed with with Sushant during his school and college years after the death of his mother. Singh sought justice when Rajput’s death became national news.
An Arts graduate, Singh joined the IPS cadre in 1992. He served as district police chief in several districts of Haryana and also served as police commissioner in Ambala-Panchkula and Faridabad, earlier serving as inspector general in Rewari and Hisar range.
