Wheelchair-bound athlete Shubham Wadhwa scripts history, makes nation proud

Shubham Wadhwa an international para table tennis player, recently made history by winning a silver medal at the ITTF World Para Table Tennis Challenger held in Egypt. He also bagged a gold medal at the UTT 2 National Ranking Table Tennis Championship held in Vadodara, Gujarat from December 2 to 4, 2025.

Shubham Wadhwa had lost both his legs in a road accident about 10 years ago and became confined to a wheelchair. Despite all the hardships he never let the sportsman spirit die in him. He never gave up on his dreams and achieved them. He says he has always dreamt of representing India in gymnastics, but destiny had other plans for him. Due to his accident he could not pursue gymnastics, but despite that he continued regardless of being confined to the wheelchair.

His hard work paid off and he brought glory to the country by representing it on an international stage. Now, he has his eyes set on the Asian Games. Recalling his journey to success he says that he was bed ridden for three years, and then a friend stepped in as guiding light and showed him a new path. That was the turning point of his life and he never looked back ever since.
