Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that strict action will be taken in the suicide case of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa and no one will be spared whether a minister or a guard and speaking at a press conference in Chandigarh the Chief Minister made it clear that the investigation will continue as per the law and rules. He said the minister linked to the case has already resigned and has also been arrested with an inquiry ordered at the Chief Secretary level.
Mann said that for his government everyone is equal “For us, a minister and a common man are the same and the law will take its own course, we do not protect anyone,” he stated. He also expressed full sympathy with the victim’s family calling human life “priceless.”
The Chief Minister strongly reacted to opposition’s demands to hand over the case to the CBI and questioned how many such cases in the past were actually investigated by the central agency while referring to earlier incidents and asked why no resignations or strict action were seen in those cases. He mentioned names like Raja Warring and Amit Shah asking when investigations were conducted or resignations took place in their cases when allegations were made against them.
Mann said that instead of handing over the case his government has already taken action and will ensure justice through the current investigation process.
CM Mann repeated that the government has “not done anyone a favor” by taking action but is simply fulfilling its duty and mentions that the entire Punjab is like one family to him and justice will be ensured without bias.
