Jalandhar residents wondering if the recent rain will return may have to wait longer as the latest weather data suggests a clear shift towards dry and hotter conditions across Punjab.
According to official data recorded on April 10, the state is currently witnessing mild temperatures, with the highest maximum temperature at 30.0°C recorded in Bathinda while the lowest minimum temperature of 13.5°C was recorded in both Amritsar and Bathinda.
The weather department has indicated that conditions across Punjab including Jalandhar are likely to remain dry in the coming days and this means no immediate chances of rainfall especially after the brief rainy spell earlier this week.
From April 9 onwards, the weather has turned completely clear with bright sunshine dominating the skies and according to IMD, Chandigarh the temperatures in Jalandhar will begin to rise steadily and expected to touch 29°C by April 10 and 11. By April 13 and 14, daytime temperatures are likely to touch 30°C marking the beginning of a consistent warming trend.
The real spike in temperature is expected from midweek with around 34°C on April 15 and near 35°C on April 16 while by April 17 the mercury may shoot up sharply to around 42°C indicating the possible onset of heatwave-like conditions in Jalandhar and nearby areas.
Jalandhar is moving from a short rainy phase to a dry, hot stretch with temperatures expected to rise by 6–8°C over the next week and for now if you’re waiting for more rain then it’s not happening anytime soon instead it’s time to prepare for rising heat and intense summer conditions.
