In Ludhiana, Punjab, all petrol pumps are closed today, Sunday, with only emergency services operational. The Petrol Pump Dealers Association (PPDA) has decided to shut down pumps in protest against the central government's refusal to increase their commission. The pump owners claim that their commission hasn't been raised in the past seven years, forcing them to operate on just 2% commission, while they are demanding a 5% commission. The association is also discussing implementing a statewide shutdown of petrol pumps every Sunday across Punjab, starting from August 25.
