In a dramatic late-night development, an official from Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) allegedly tried to forcibly release water from the Nangal Dam. Acting swiftly, Punjab Police reached the spot and took the officer into custody.
According to sources, the move was seen as an unauthorized attempt that could have diverted Punjab’s crucial water resources. The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Punjab and Haryana over water sharing, with Punjab firmly opposing any additional water release to Haryana.
This attempt is being viewed by Punjab authorities as part of a larger conspiracy to deprive the state of its rightful water.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to visit the Nangal Dam shortly to take stock of the situation.
