In a decisive operation, Punjab Police has dismantled a Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) module, solving the hand grenade attack on Police Post Asron, SBS Nagar, reported on 2nd November. DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed that Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, in a joint operation with SBS Nagar Police, arrested three individuals: Yugpreet Singh (Yuvi), Jaskaran Singh, and Harjot Singh.
The module, with terrorist orientation linked to KZF, was being directed by handlers based in Germany, the UK, and other countries. It was tasked with carrying out attacks on police establishments and minority leaders to destabilize the region.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the grenade used in the attack was retrieved from a Dead Letter Box (DLB) on G.T. Road, Jalandhar, on 28th October. The module also received ₹4.5 lakh in funding over the past six months to facilitate its operations.
During the operation, police recovered 1 country-made pistol, 1 revolver, and 6 live cartridges.
DGP Gaurav Yadav reaffirmed Punjab Police’s commitment to uprooting terrorist elements and maintaining peace and security in the state. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the network’s full extent.
