In a significant move under Punjab’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Vigilance Bureau has arrested Jagat Ram in Ludhiana for accepting a bribe of ₹42.60 lakh. The accused falsely claimed to be an officer of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) and allegedly took the bribe in exchange for providing a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The arrest followed a complaint by Rakesh Sachdeva, who reported the matter on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Anti-Corruption Helpline. A case has been registered against Jagat Ram under the Prevention of Corruption Act, underscoring the state government’s firm stance against corruption.
