At least eight people have reportedly died after consuming spurious liquor in three villages of Amritsar’s Majitha constituency—Bhaghali Kalan, Maradi Kalan, and Jayantipur. Several others are in critical condition and have been admitted to hospitals.
Four deaths are said to be from Maradi Kalan alone. Victims in serious condition are reportedly unable to speak.
This is the fourth major spurious liquor tragedy in Punjab in the last three years, raising serious concerns over recurring incidents despite previous casualties.
