The Punjab government is expected to see a major cabinet reshuffle on Monday, with five ministers likely to be dropped from the council. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already sought an appointment with Governor Gulab Chand Kataria to induct six new ministers.
Several senior ministers and MLAs were called to Delhi on Sunday for consultations with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, who is expected to finalize the reshuffle by the evening.
This will mark the fourth reshuffle in the 30-month tenure of the AAP government in Punjab. Currently, the cabinet includes 15 ministers, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, though the Council of Ministers can have up to 18 members.
Sources indicate that ministers like Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Balkar Singh, Brahm Shankar Jimpa, and Anmol Gagan Maan might be among those affected by the reshuffle, with potential changes in portfolios also anticipated. This shake-up comes in the wake of recent Lok Sabha poll results and internal reports reviewed by the party leadership.
