Banks will remain closed for 14 days in April at different locations –Check if your state is in list

According to the RBI’s official bank holiday list, the banks will be closed for a total of 14 days across different states in the month of April.

Today, 31st March, on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, certain government offices have a holiday. Although today the banks in certain states are not maintaining a gazetted holiday. As the April month of the year 2026 begins tomorrow, let's check which of the following dates are a bank holiday. 

According to the RBI’s official bank holiday list, the banks will be closed for a total of 14 days in different states next month, April. Apart from Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays, the banks will be closed for eight days in different locations. 

Bank holidays in April 2026

The month begins with a holiday on April 1st. Banks across different states will be closed for annual account closing. No offline banking work will be possible on this day. Residents are requested to verify the holiday with their local banks to confirm the holiday. 

April 2nd shall be observed as a holiday in Kerala on the occasion of  Punya Guruvayur festival. 

3rd April, shall be observed as a holiday in multiple states in India for Good Friday. 

5th April is a Sunday, Banks all over India, shall remain closed.

11th April is a second Saturday, Banks all over India shall remain shut.

12th April, The banks shall remain closed on Sunday.

14th April, is a National holiday on account of Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s jayanti. Banks all over India also remain closed.

15th April, the day is considered as New year for the Bengali people. Banks may remain closed in Kolkata. The date April 15, also coincides with Bohag Bihu, a festival celebrated in Assam. Banks in Guwahati and areas near shall maintain a bank holiday. Similarly, regional festivals shall be observed in Kochi, Shimla, Itanagar, Agartala and Thiruvananthapuram.

Work can be done through online banking

Bank service holders can continue to use online banking and ATMs to make money transactions and other transactions despite bank holidays. These services will remain unaffected by bank holidays.

Residents are advices to verify these holidays with their local banks.
