Hence it is obvious the current Vande Bharat Express is not that much suitable for long distance. Keeping this in mind, the Indian Railways had announced to launch Vande Bharat Express Sleeper Train.
It was originally expected to debut in October 2025. But, now it is November and Vande Bharat Express Sleeper Train is yet to start. Continue reading below to know the latest update on Vande Bharat Sleeper Train-
As per ZeeNews, Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is expected to be delayed more. It is reported that the sleeper version of Vande Bharat Express is facing further delays due to furnishing and safety concerns flagged by the Railway Board.
The report further suggests that the second rake is still in the final phase of manufacturing, with work going on the interiors.
Although the Board has granted in-principle approval for the operation of the 16-car Vande Bharat Sleeper rake, it has advised that certain deficiencies must be rectified before the train can enter service.
In a detailed communication to the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and all railway zones, the Board highlighted issues related to furnishing quality and workmanship, including sharp edges and corners in the berthing area, poorly designed window curtain handles, and “pigeon pockets” between berth connectors that could cause cleaning and maintenance problems.
As of now no start date of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has been announced.
It is pertinent to mention here that the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is expected to run on Delhi-Patna route.
However, the Indian Railways have been trying hard to start the services soon. A report published in a Hindi Daily suggests that trials of the Vande Bharat sleeper coach continued for the second day on Monday in the Kota Railway Division.
The train was loaded with passenger weight and driven at a speed of 175 kilometers per hour between Rohalkhurd and Vikramgarh. During this, the RDSO team examined the vibrations in the coaches and the condition of the track, recording the movements on a computer.
A rake of 16 Vande Bharat sleeper coaches arrived in Kota two days ago. A team from the Research Design Standards Organization also accompanied them. The team tested the train on Sunday at a speed of 155 kilometers per hour from Mahidpur to Shamgarh on the Nagda section.
