1890 mask violators undergo mandatory Covid-19 test in Jalandhar

Further spearheading its drive against mask violators, the Commissioner Police on Sunday made 1890 people loitering without masks to undergo mandatory RTPCR Covid testing at various locations of the city.

Divulging more, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Jalandhar has been witnessing sharp uptick in the Covid cases and Commissionerate police laid special 17 nakas and took 1890 people roaming without facemasks to nearby Covid testing camp.

He said that due to laxity attitude of the some people who were not adhering to the mask wearing despite repeated appeals, the district has been recording surge in the cases.

He appealed the people to not to lower guard and asked them to follow the SMS (social distancing, Mask and Sanitization) principle in their routine life to contain fresh wave of the pathogen.

Commissioner of police said that people need to be cautious and must contact the doctor immediately in case of flu-like symptoms to ensure timely treatment to the potential Covid patient. Further, he appealed all the eligible to get vaccine immediately to prevent the spread of the pathogen by breaking transmission of the virus.

Bhullar also reiterated his resolve to deal strictly with the violators especially the habitual one, who doesn’t care about society in the coming days.

Pointing out further, the commissioner of police said that night curfew was being enforced strictly in the city and the patrolling parties were doing rounds in various locations.
