4 members of India Support Staff to remain in isolation after Ravi Shastri tests positive for covid19

On Sunday, four members of India Support Staff including head coach Ravi Shastri have been sent to isolation as fears related to the Covid-19 infection emerge. 

The BCCI took the above decision after Ravi Shastri’s lateral flow test report came positive last evening. 

The official notification by BCCI read, “The BCCI Medical Team has isolated Mr Ravi Shastri, Head Coach, Mr B. Arun, Bowling Coach, Mr R. Sridhar, Fielding Coach and Mr Nitin Patel, Physiotherapist as a precautionary measure after Mr Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive last evening.”

Now, they have undergone the RT-PCR report and they are advised not to travel with Team India until the report for the same is released. 

The notification further read, “They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team.”

BCCI further informed that all India team members, including the playing XI, have undergone two lateral flow tests and returned to the venue after both tests were reported negative. 

“The remaining members of the Team India contingent underwent two Lateral Flow Tests – one last night and another this morning. The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval,” read the notification.

More details are awaited. 

For now, England and India are playing Day 4 of the 4th Test. England won the toss and elected to field first. In the first inning of the test match, India scored 191 runs and England scored 290 runs. Whereas, in the second inning Team India is at 296-3* (101 overs).
