46- year- old man jumped from 6th floor of GMCH after HIV report came positive, died on the spot

A 46-year-old patient jumped from the sixth floor of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 in Chandigarh following getting his positive HIV report. He died on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh (46), who hailed from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. As he jumped from the floor, there was chaos in the hospital. The security guards and the police were immediately informed. Police reached the spot and started the investigation by keeping the body in the mortuary.

According to the information, the incident happened at around 3 pm on Friday, when a person suddenly jumped down from the 6th floor of the GMCH. On investigation, it came to light that he was a TB patient and was admitted to the hospital three days ago. During his routine blood and other tests, he was detected HIV positive. He was not in the sound of his mental health after getting the news of his positive HIV report. The police have been talking to the family members on the spot and taking note of their statements till the filing of this report.
